From a CSI rerun this evening (I agree with Grissom completely on this):

FATHER POWELL: I celebrate mass every Thursday night, 7:00.

GRISSOM: Thank you ... but ... (he shakes his head) ... no.

FATHER POWELL: You don't believe?

GRISSOM: In religion? I believe in God, in science ... in Sunday supper. I don't believe in rules that tell me how I should live.

FATHER POWELL: Even if they're handed down by God?

GRISSOM: How many crusades were fought in the name of God? How many people died because of someone's religion?

FATHER POWELL: Fanaticism. Not religion.

GRISSOM: Semantics. They're still dead. I'm sorry about Ben, father.

(GRISSOM stands up.)

FATHER POWELL: You still suffer like a catholic.

(FATHER POWELL also stands up.)

FATHER POWELL: Light bulb goes out other people fix it, get a new one. Light bulb goes out for the Catholic he stands in the dark says, "What did I do wrong?"

GRISSOM: That guilt's not in me anymore.

if you don't know where you're going, any road'll take you there

Well...back in class again, and the first week is already complete. Last semester's grades are slowly trickling in...as long as I pass all my classes, I'll be happy.

In other news, I finished my second half-marathon over break. It was mostly an excuse to take a break from the Wisconsin winter and spend a week in Phoenix, but I did take the run seriously, and finished in about 1:53. I was hoping for better, and was well on pace for a 1:45 until some major blisters developed on the bottom of both my big toes. It slowed me down, forced some walking, but I still PR'd by over 3 minutes. Now it's time to start training for the Mad City Marathon.

Break wasn't all fun and games, however. During the eight days I was gone, my apartment complex was going to gut and rebuild the bathroom in my apartment. They said they would need no more than a week, and would be done and gone before I got back, and if there was going to be any delay, they would call to let me know. Needless to say, the bathroom was not completed and I got no notification. The tub was in, but the toilet wasn't installed on Monday. There also was no sink, counter, cupboard, etc. to be seen...not to mention the missing bathroom door. There was, however, a significant amount of plastic sheeting installed. As of this writing, there is a temporary sink, and the toilet is also in. The bathroom door (and all the towel bars) cannot be installed until the actual sink/vanity is installed (supposedly Jan 27th), but I'm not holding my breath on that. I've received one rent adjustment for the inconvenience so far...and if the vanity doesn't arrive, discussions will re-open.

Oh well...time for Jeopardy!
